National Latino AIDS Awareness Day: Gay men's health crisis
- In particular, the Latino community remains at high risk of contracting HIV, as Latinos accounted for 24 percent of all new HIV diagnoses in 2014. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimated that a total of 263,900 Latinos were infected with HIV by the end of 2013. These high rates of infection reflect the unique barriers to HIV treatment and testing that exist within the Latino community.
