The Odebrecht Octopus: One of Latin America's greatest scandals - A local corruption case involving a multinational construction firm from Brazil, has turned into one of the largest scandals that Latin America has ever witnessed. Recent developments shed light on the magnitude of the affair, reaching presidents, public companies, private corporations and politicians. The Odebrecht affair reappeared on the public scene in Peru, as its former President Alejandro Toledo was accused of favoring the Brazilian company in public tenders during his administration. Toledo was Peru’s President from 2001 to 2006. He initiated a new era of hopes following a decade of government led by hard-liner Alberto Fujimori.
